What is Couple Counselling?

When you are having problems in your relationship, couple counselling offers a safe haven where you can explore and express your feelings, longings and fears in a safe way that pulls your partner closer and enables you to resolve issues.

Before giving up hope of healing your relationship, it's worth seeking out a couple counsellor. Of course, therapy isn't a magic cure and while a counsellor facilitates healing and change, it requires that you are both willing to change and committed to working on yourself and your relationship.

I highly recommend these books Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations for A Lifetime of Love and The Love Secret: The revolutionary new science of romantic relationships by Dr. Sue Johnson, the originator of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, with whom I have also trained. These books are to be used by all who seek a 'lifetime of love'.

Alternatively, if your relationship isn't in severe distress then a Hold Me Tight (HMT) couples workshop can be a great prelude to commencing or deciding if you even need couples therapy.
