Couples who want to grow stronger together and rekindle the spark that drew them together are invited to join this wonderfully experiential and interactive workshop based on the book Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations for A Lifetime of Love by Dr Sue Johnson, the founder of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Each HMT series comprises two days of short lively presentations accompanied with short video clips of couples taking part in HMT sessions with Dr Sue Johnson. These are followed by each couple privately engaging in intimate guided conversations that help each couple develop more openness, responsiveness and trust in each other. These heart to heart conversations provide a stable foundation for safe loving relationships.
This workshop is open to couples who are struggling in some way, arguing or growing distant. It is a great prelude for couples wanting to start couple therapy or unsure if they even need couples therapy, and especially for couples who want to deepen trust and intimacy within their relationship.
If your relationship has become like a wilting plant in need of some watering, then HMT might just be what is needed to spring it back to life. It is also ideal for committed couples who want to improve their communication and connection or couples who have just started dating or are about to commit to a long-term relationship through moving in together, getting married or civic partnerships. All races, religious and sexual orientations are welcome. If you have any disability, please let us know so we can accommodate your needs.
A little health warning: If your relationship is in severe distress, the Hold Me Tight Programme can be a prelude but not a substitute for individual or couples therapy. If you or your partner are experiencing acute relationship distress, serious depression or other mental health problems, you are also advised to seek individual or couples therapy.
By the end of the workshop, you will:
The 7 facilitated conversations are based on the following topics:
